Bad Taste

What We Thought

OK, so I'm excited to talk about this one. For a long time, this was my favorite movie on the list, finally being replaced by Defendor, which I'm also excited to talk about when the time comes.  Bad Taste is the first feature film of director Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Heavenly Creatures, The Frighteners), released in 1987. Written by Jackson, Toby Hiles, and Ken Hammon, this dynamite little oddity stars Terry Potter, Peter O'Herne, and Craig Smith. Oh, and Peter Jackson. As Derek. And Dereks do NOT run! This movie was made for 25K, and has a runtime of 92 minutes. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 71%, this film shouldn't qualify for this list, but it never really got a wide release, and so it is criminally unseen. It starts out as a fairly standard alien invasion film, but this movie goes off the rails in all the right ways.
